I just wanted to do a picspam, and seeing that picspammy's previous challenge is still up, I thought I might as well post this up. And this has been pretty much all I've obsessing about during the last few months – the last race on November 1st. For some reason I didn't really catch on the 2008 season hype - I read the results, watched the highlights, but was never excited much that I had to watch it live (it was strange considering I was hooked from 2005-2007). As much as I think Hamilton is a great driver - it's pure headache to listen to the British commentary when that’s pretty much ALL they talk about. This year was easier because firstly, we're back to the BBC broadcast so that means no adverts/interruptions, plus, if you're normally a Ferrari/McLaren fan they were behind on development, so you had support new drivers and teams for the championship. There weren’t too many memorable races, my favourite would probably be Brazil, though Spa and Suzuka never disappoint, Melbourne's always a good one just because it's after the winter break. The rather boring ones were those newer/street circuits (i.e Valenia, Singapore, Abu Dhabi) and Monaco was, again, a disappointment. I think the only Monaco race I've enjoyed recently was back in 2005. As always, give time for the images to all show up.

This is what the drivers table looks like at the end of the year, there were more than a few change-overs and swaps. (1) Sébastien Bourdais of Toro Rosso team was replaced with Jaime Alguersuari (2) Ferrari's Felipe Massa was injured and had to sit out for the rest the season, Luca Badoer was in his seat first, but because he was so bad they then stole Giancarlo Fisichella off (3) Force India who in turn had to fill his seat with Vitantonio Liuzzi (4) Nelson Piquet, Jr. was fired and replaced with Romain Grosjean and (5) Kamui Kobayashi sat in for Timo Glock during Suzuka's Friday practice and the two races afterwards.

The Beginning of the Brawn Fairytale (Melbourne Circuit, Australia)
The new team (formally known as Honda), lead by Ross Brawn, get their first points, podium, and race win, all in their first outing. Jenson Button was on the top step and Rubens Barrichello ends up second after Vettel and Kubica crash out at the last laps. Jenson's winning streak continues on until Turkey.

It's A Storm (Sepang Circuit, Malaysia)
Do commence the "Felipe baby!" and Kimi/Icecream/Magnum/Coke/(Vodka) jokes.

Maiden Win's for Red Bull (Shanghai Circuit, China; Nürburgring, Germany)
Red Bull get their first win - also one/two - in China with Sebastian Vettel (who's already had his maiden win with Toro Rosso) and Mark Webber. Mark also finally wins, after more than 130 starts in Germany - another one/two. They both go on to win more races, including Silverstone, Suzuka, Abu Dhabi (Seb) and Brazil (Mark).

Felipe Massa (Hungaroring, Hungary)
Massa has been told to keep out of the cockpit and that fueled rumours of a Schumi comeback. And then it was confirmed. And then the dream was shattered when his neck injury was too severe to drive the duration of a Formula 1 race. Thus the slowest Ferrari driver came about. I think it's the first time Ferrari have been the slowest/last in qualifying.

Are You On Pole? (Hungaroring, Hungary)
For a sport that’s worth bajillons, you'd think they'd have a timing system which works. Apparently not. At the end of the session, the drivers parked and Alonso basically went around and asked everyone what times they did. Alonso: (to Jenson) "I don't know where I am." (to Mark) "I don't know which position I am!" (to anyone) "Are you on pole? (to Lewis) "What time did you do? You know you're position?" (to his team) "We are what?" Answer: We don't know yet, haven't heard anything off the radio.

Rubens is a Winner... and it's not for Ferrari (Valencia Street Circuit, Europe)
Because it's been five years, and there isn't a person who isn't happy for him. And more importantly, it's his only win out of the Ferrari cockpit. His first was also one of the longest maiden wins back at the Nürburgring in 2000, starting 17th and ended up 1st.

The King of Spa: Kimi (Spa-Francorchamps, Belguim)
Crazy qualifying ended with a totally backwards grid - Force India on pole and a Ferrari at the back. Kimi's fourth win (out of five) makes him the only driver on the current grid to be a Spa winner (depending on how you see last years Hamilton/Chicanes/Massa). This was Ferrari's first/only race win in 2009, but was slightly overshadowed by Fisi's first Force India's points/podium. We also say bye, bye to Luca Badoer - probably Ferrari's worst driver, but hey, you really can't blame him, especially after they replaced him and there still weren't any points. Don't you love how Fisi was singing along to the Italian anthem and is so happy, you'd have thought he actually won it.

New Circuit: Pretty, But That's It (Yas Marina Circuit, Abu Dhabi)
The place looks amazing. Even on the TV screen. I hate the blue colored tarmac, it's supposed to be the color of the sea, but I find it rather "disjointed" from the rest of track - not to mention it just looks horrible. The pitlane wasn't really worth all that hype, it would have been more exciting to have it as an overpass instead of underground. Interlagos should definitely be given back the place as last on the calendar - it has always produced a much more exciting finale race.

Rookie of the Year: Kamui Kobayashi
He was seriously the highlight of the last two races, most notably Abu Dhabi which was super boring. Supposedly holding up the WC, weaving (which comes into question because if he was, why wasn't he punished?), clashing with Nakajima, overtaking in the last few laps - I hope we see more of him. It's a shame Toyota has left the sport because I really hope to see more of him.

The (Always) Runner-Up: Rubens Barrichello
Rubens has the worst luck EVER on his home track - seriously, a puncture in the last few laps? I was so hoping and cheering that Rubens could finally add World Championship to his CV. It's something like out of his 17 starts he's only finished a handful of them and only once has it been on a podium, third place. Plus it would have been interesting to see the driver situation if Rubens became WC.

The Runner-Up: Sebastian Vettel
Youngest ever runner-up. And he could actually still steal the title of "youngest world champion" if he wins next year (though highly unlikely with the super teams stepping up). He's definitely a raw talent and I'm sure he's eventually going to win a championship - I remember people saying that about Kimi back in 2002 and it took him five years - but he only seems to do well when starting at the front of the grid. That’s his main problem. He's fast and can put in crazy lap times, perfect qualifying laps, but he doesn’t seem to overtaking and making up ground when starting lower down. But I’m going to give him the benefit of the doubt because we didn’t get much action anywhere from anyone. So next year will probably be his biggest challenge without refueling, he'll need to get a lot of the work done on the track, and if he proves he can, then he's going to be classified as one of the top tier drivers.

The Champion: Jenson Button
So there are debates he's not deserving, he shouldn't have won, he's the worst champion, etc. But it comes down to who has the most points at the end of the season, and Button has shown flashes of brilliance before in his years - think back to, what, I think it was 2005 when the team was still BAR Honda. I also believe he's very lucky, after a rather bland second half of the season he still manages to keep a huge points gap throughout, and no one else could capitalise on his misfortunes. But lucky also needs finishes, points and reliability, he only had the one DNF, and it was a race incident. As for him moving to McLaren, on a sentimental value, I’m surprised considering they’ve been through so much together, the bad and the good. However I would also understand that he wants a long term winning team.

The Last of Kimi Räikkönen?
I guess it seems fitting he started F1 at the beginning of the decade an decides to ~~leave~~ take a break at the start of a new one. Driving for McLaren pretty much all his career he came close to the title twice but only finally made it in 2007 in his first year with Ferrari, only to be kicked out and replaced with Alonso - and I thought the tifosi quite liked him. Its a shame to see one of my favourite drivers leave but it seems F1 isn't really his thing anymore, whether its motivation problems, lack of actual racing nowadays, or the PR duties, it seems he hasn't changed one little bit from since he first started racing, it's necessarily bad, but it doesn't help in a sport which is making it's big change. What surprised me is that he actually looks rather small in real life when I went to the Ferrari store opening in Regents St earlier in the year (and that’s coming from a rather short person of 5.6ft) - so I can't imagine Massa when onscreen everyone towers over him.

We Wait for 2010... (and because everyone's friends!)
It has seriously taken ages this year for the final (important) driver seats to be announced, but seeing as it's confirmed that Kimi will be taking a "sabbatical" (we all know how well that went for Mika) and that McLaren will have it's British world champions line-up as well as Brawn being bought by Mercedes who are interested in a mainly German team - we have a clearer idea whats happening next year. Personally not too happy about how this turned out mainly for two reasons a) an all British team at McLaren is going to be a national broadcasting/newspaper headache for me and b) I was looking forward to a Lewis/Kimi vs. Felipe/Fernando. Looking at it this way, as long as Ferrari provides a decent car and the drivers don't kill each other, they should at least be getting the Constructors title.

R.I.P Daul Kim. I loved alot of her work, she went so suddendly - I was only reading Russh a few hours ago. And isn't she like the fifth(?), high profile-ish suicide in Korea these few years -- (nymag.com)

Yep, I thought if I went to a slightly later screening I'd be able to get away from the squealing fangirls. Guess not. But seriously, that a fucking LONG film. Lord of the Rings style long - though of course no where near as epic.

Thoughts on the film? More bad than good. It seems they expect the viewers to have already read the books and already be a Edward/Bella shipper to understand it. Jacob in the book comes off as rather immature, pushy and you know it's impossible for Jake and BElla to be togther. But from the film he comes off more as the wounded hero - and if you weren't already a Edward/Bella supporter, I wouldn't be surprised if you jumped ship.

Yet in a way, it's the best part of the film. Because if we spent anymore time on any Edward scenes I would probably leave the cinema. Apart from the fact he looks like caked make-up, it was just annoying. I don't know if it's the fact a character like Edward is impossible to be perfect, Robert Pattinson as the actor, or the script - probably all of the above - but all I could do was cringe when he's on screen. Loads of stuff taken from the book - they actually put in the months as "November", "December" etc - I thought it was well done, but hoping to see if the director could think of another way to show time had passed, but all the good quotes were left out - wtf?! Another thing that irked me was at some times the music seemed inapporiate/used wrongly/left something to be desired.

Best part of the film.... Rachelle's hair. It's soo fucking beautiful and so red, and stands out. So how the fuck could you have gotten rid of her. And the Mike/Jacob/Bella cinema was scene was probably as good as the book. Charlie is awesome sauce like always. Carlisle too. And of course Dakota. And Sheen. Basically the Volturi.

What I don't understand is why spend so much time/effort scounting for super talent to be the Volturi, yet they only have 10 minutes of screen time.

#232 picspammy Challenge #13, Something Different: Angela Lindvall

Another month, and another picspam for picspammy. The challenge this time was to choose something different; something I haven't spammed before. So I decided to picspam Angela because she's actually my all-time favourite model, but I'm pretty sure no one on my f-list could tell you that. Alot of times I will have a "model of the moment", or models which have had a great year but Angela has been my constant since I first saw her on the NYLON September 2001 cover (which also happens to be first NYLON too). Considering how long she's been a model, I'm one of the late/r fans.

She's one to deliver quality over quantity over the years gracing a number of magazine covers, her first was i-D November 1996 and from then on W, Numéro, Elle, Harper's Bazaar, Sports Illustrated and more than 20 Vogue's (interntionally, of course); working with photographers like Mert and Marcus, Inez and Vinoodh, Terry Richardson, Mario Testino, Steven Meisel to name a few, and picking up many "only-girl" jobs like Fendi, Calvin Klein, Cavalli, Jimmy Choo and Chloe and as well major campaigns throughout her career think; Dior, Chanel, Hermes, Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2008. Throughout her ten years she's walked countless runways, her most recent an exclusive for Alexander Wang SS 2010 and maybe we'll see her again for the next Victoria's Secret Show in NYC.

And how many people do you see getting more and more beautiful as they age. Please do give time for all the images to show up.

And here's my first entry for picspammy's latest challenge, "Colors" (or if you're British like me it ~~could~~ should be "Colours"). I gave it some thought, but still couldn't think of something, until I gave up trying to find something in the usual fandoms.

So I came up with this. Red's not my favourite color, but it's definitely one that stands out among a crowd - it's powerful, striking, and can be represented in many ways. Here's the first part -- Red in Fashion, or more specifically in fashion editorials where red is the color focus of the picture, and/or immediately catches your attention. Ummm... BEG's third album. I like the fact that they kinda stuck to the electronia-style they experimented with for their mini albums but I don't like the fact that those tracks dominate the album. Both discs, actually, coz the remixes are also heavily influenced.

These girls have some of the most beautiful voices in current K-pop, but there was a very obvious lack of strong ballads -- the standouts in the album last time.

As for the comeback image, the whole sexy dominatrix thing is sooo overdone, but I guess it's done much better than some others, as BEG is more mature - I mean this musically, as well. So overall, I like the MV, and will support the album, they're still my favourite girl group. I think Leave Mrs. Kim is still my favourite though.

They soooo need their own lj comm.

And here's my ~~first~~ entry for picspammy's 11th challenge, "Short Form". I have this unhealthy obsession with Perfume ads, I love how half them make absolutely no sense, or have no real purpose apart from just looking pretty. Two fairly different ad campaigns - each represent the director rather than the perfume. Personally I think Audrey is a great fresh face to the name, but seems a little subtle for Chanel, the original with Nicole is more extravagant, more memorable. And really, this should be the first time everyone gets hyped, or first hears about about Debussy's Clair De Lune, not Twilight. All caps taken/edited by me.

• You know every child has dreams, some just never happen, some no longer because dreams, but some you get to fulfill. And thats what happened on Sunday.

I FUCKING WENT TO SILVERSTONE!
Silverstone, 2009 British Grand Prix, and to go there and watch the actual Formula 1, it was epic. Seriously, it was something I've always wanted to do, and to have the chance to do it was amazing. A great win from Sebastian Vettel, who pretty much lead the race from the first moment. But absolutely fucking amazing day (as you can tell I've run out of adjectives already). The day was just plain astonishing, fascinating, incredible, stunning, surprising, unbelievable, wonderful - you get the point. And it didn't rain. Miracle.
And talking about sport, going to Wimbledon next week. I think the last time I went was nearly 6 years ago. Wow, a long time.

• And because it has to be said,

R.I.P Michael Jackson
with as much crazy stuff there was in his world, I can't believe he was only 50 years old. A true legend of the century.

• Also, a sort of part-time hiatus. I've been around the Internet, done some downloading, but I'm probably the worst friend ever as I haven't checked my f-list in over 4 days. I'll be working on dbsk_library under I can get it up-to-date.

... weird houses and what not
I went to the book store with my auntie this morning coz she's decorating the new house and was looking for ideas. Who knew there were so many interior design books around? I got a headache and decided the Internet would be easier [it's the 21st century!! Google!] I came across a few interesting things. I thought I'd mention thhis is a totally useless post. I don't even know what to tag it.

Who the hell invented this idea? This is a two floored, multi colored house with no stairs. To go up, you have to climb the fraking poles.

I like this one. It's really cute, also strangely located on some kinda pathway/bridge/random crossing.

Various Interiors

I'm more of a white, minimalist, simple spacious person, but I do really like darker themed rooms. My mum says guys prefer the black sheets coz it hides dirt and stains easier.

The windows/walls/glass! ♥

I like the green TV/Movie room, we have one of those, but it's less tech-y and a midnight blue/black color instead.

The left picture, it literally is what I wish my apartment could be, and being realistically so. The crazy house to the right caught my attention straight away. It's beautiful, the view looks breathtaking, however I'm afraid of heights (imagine walking out to THAT balcony every day) and it looks like civilization is miles away.

I like this. I think it's suppossed to be the back pool - so someone might have pointed out it could the entrance but meh, I don't think so.

Another hilltop/cliffside weirdly shaped house. It looks like the middle of NO WHERE

But while I'm at it might as well do a little pimping, a comm for Asian soundtracks from dramas, anime, games, cf's etc drammaticaa drammaticaa drammaticaa. Speaking of anime, what good out there right NOW. As in the spring season. Apart from FMA2 and Eden of the East.

• Listening to the same music over and over again is making me depressed. I really need some new music. Alot of my indie pop/rock stuff feels old now, and well, I JUST NEED SOMETHING NEW. NEW AND REFRESHING. I got my Seira Kagami CD today so was listening to that -- I will recommend to to J-pop fans, sort of pop/electro/anime stuff - she did the ending theme for CHAOS;HEAD. Can't wait for Bonnie Pink's new album. And I still haven't gotten around to Younha's yet (is it good?)

• And suprisingly, I FUCKING ♥ After School. Ga Hee is so damn pretty, and I don't know another person who can look so different with their hair up or down. The dances, performances and outfits are sexy and the songs are pretty catchy (just please get rid of the "Ladies Sound..." intro next time). They aren't great live, but compared to Wonder Girls, they're miles ahead. They might be slightly (term used lightly) older than the other "new generation" girlbands but they THE ONE for me. Of course, my love for CSJH and BEG comes first (they need to release new).

#209 picspammy Challenge #09, Scenes and Sequences : Twilight

A third picspam in three days. So this what not what I had in mind when thinking of something to picspam, but with really great screencaps from HoTN, I thought might as well make good use of them. Then I realised the coloring for this film is a real bitch and took alot more time that I expected and nearly gave up (as you can tell near the end) - I hope the final result isn't too bright for anyone. The film didn't rock my boat. Personal opinion, but sadly, true. The DVD did a little better with the deleted scenes. However there were a few moments which made up for the lack of Edward/Bella chemistry. Namely, anything with Charlie or Carlisle in it.

Edward Cullen was standing four cars down from me, staring at me in horror. His face stood out from a sea of faces, all frozen in the same mask of shock. But of more immediate importance was the dark blue van that was skidding, tires locked and squealing against the brakes, spinning wildly across the ice of the parking lot. My ultimate OTP, so I thought I'd center this picspam challenge around them. Roswell was a show focused around the idea that the Roswell (alien) crash in 1947 was real, and there were actual alien/human hybirds on it who are now in high school. There are loads of Michael/Maria scenes I love, but these are the ones off the top of my memory - but I'm sure I'm missing big.

Maria: You're stealing my car.
Michael: I'm borrowing your car. Now get out.
Maria: You're telling me to get out? This is my car. Actually, it's my mother's. If anything happens to it, life as I know it will be over. Wherever it goes, I go.
Michael: Fine. You had your chance.
Maria: Oh, my God. You're kidnapping me. No, wait, you're abducting me.!

Isabel: This is a toothbrush.
Michael: It's an electric toothbrush. It's practical.
Isabel: It is practical. Are you gonna give it to Maria as a stocking stuffer?
Michael: Hell no. This is gonna be her present. She set a price limit. If I exceed that budget, then there's gonna be hell to pay.
Isabel: Actually I think Maria would find it in her heart to forgive you for exceeding the price limit, though there would be hell to pay if you gave the girl you love an electric toothbrush for Christmas, you're better off getting her no gift at all.
Michael: No. I tried the "no present" idea last year. It didn't work.
Isabel: Last year was your first year together, and you didn't give her a present?
Michael: Hey, I don't even believe in this, so why should I get sucked into it?
Isabel: Well, you could write that on the card when you give her a dental product for Christmas.
Michael: So, what should I get her?
Isabel: Okay, look. Go home. Think about all that you and Maria have shared, all that she means to you. Then start coming up with some ideas, ok? A Christmas gift should be personal, thoughtful, and something someone would never get herself.

#208 picspammy Challenge #09, Scenes and Sequences : The Fall of Anne Boleyn

Because this is the first thing I thought of when I saw picspammy's monthly challenge. It's a huge shame that Natalie Dormer has now left the show, as her portrayal of Anne Boleyn has to be my favourite to date. The reason I left out the dialogue/quotes is that besides the fact that I was too lazy, I also feel these scenes don't need the words to be understood. The last two episodes were just heartbreaking, and every time she - or anyone, really - cried, I bawled like a baby. And still do. I still haven't brought myself to start watching the new season of the Tudors but at least they've decided on changing the actress for Jane Seymour -- she was so plain and boring in comparison to Natalie Dormer I found it hard to understand the King's fascination in her, unlike the way I felt when Anne stole the show from her sister and Queen Catherine. Spoiler alert for the final two episodes of The Tudors, Season 2.

... it's been a while since I was actually excited in seeing a book on my doorstep
Actually, no thats not true. I was jumping up and down when Patricia Brigg's Bone Crossed arrived in his shiny blue hardback cover.

But I actually REALLY like this cover, it looks better when you have it front of you. The Mortal Instruments have the most beautiful hardback covers, it's the only reason I collected them. The UK edition paperbacks are rather freaky (in my opinion anyway). But I DON'T like the Stephanie Meyer quote stuck right in the middle of it. Argh. I get the trilogy will appeal to Twilight fans (I actually prefer Cassandra Clare's trilogy) but really, no need to stick right THERE, smack in the middle.

So I've been away from the Internet for some time and finally got around to catch up with downloading. I watched the HQ of Super Junior's comeback performances and I have a question.

I don't really keep up to date with SuJu happenings but umm, why is Kibum MIA? He was in the MV, so is he on hiatus or something? And was Heechul just to lazy to learn the rest of the dance so he decided to just satisfy fans by coming out during the last section (at looking pretty at the end of the performance)?

But anyway, it's good they choose to sing live for their performances, although of course the stronger singers did that (does it not look like a group with backing dancers sometimes?). And woah, I feel sorry for the cameraman - there's so much happening on stage all at once.

And you have to give it to the fangirls - during the Music Bank performance there was just crazy fangirl screaming. Just pure screaming. The others were a little more "organized" like singing along, screaming names to the beat of the music.

I have gone bankcrupt. This month alone (I have NEVER hated March so much) I brought 21 albums. Seven of those from CDJapan (because I want to contribute to Oricon) and the rest from YA. I'm still waiting for my last batch of them to be dispatched. alan, Fukui Mai, Kalafina, Hoshimura Mai, Nakashima Mika, Utada, BoA, Tohoshinki, Son Dam Bi, Eason Chan, Kay Tse, Jeremy Ji (this was on sale). And older releases from Angela Aki, Mai Kuraki, Wakeshima Kanon, Fly to the Sky, Cheer Chen, G.E.M, Shin Hyesung and two older alan singles

I have OFFICIALLY started my holidays. So much school work nowadays. So I've started rewatchs of Roswell. I saw a post up a comm and just had the urge to pull out my DVD's

Michael: (confused) Where was I suppossed to be?
Maria: We were suppossed to have lunch at school today.
