#216 [info]picspammy Challenge #11, Short Form: Favourite Perfume Ads, The Classics

It's a real pain trying to find HQ ads/tv spots to cap. My second entry for [info]picspammy's 11th challenge, "Short Form", and continuing on the perfume ads, here's are some of my favourite ads - the "Classic" version. There's a lot of newer ads around that I love (Miss Dior Cherie) that have come in the last year of two, but many of my favourites have been around for some time. Although I think some of these - Dior's J'Adore and YSL's Elle - are better viewed in motion so if you haven't seen them check, watch them on YT. Again, all caps taken/edited by me.

#215 [info]picspammy Challenge #11, Short Form: Chanel N° 5

And here's my first entry for [info]picspammy's 11th challenge, "Short Form". I have this unhealthy obsession with Perfume ads, I love how half them make absolutely no sense, or have no real purpose apart from just looking pretty. Two fairly different ad campaigns - each represent the director rather than the perfume. Personally I think Audrey is a great fresh face to the name, but seems a little subtle for Chanel, the original with Nicole is more extravagant, more memorable. And really, this should be the first time everyone gets hyped, or first hears about about Debussy's Clair De Lune, not Twilight. All caps taken/edited by me.

I must have been the only person in the world, who didn't know, who she was. )

The Silverstone Race Track

• You know every child has dreams, some just never happen, some no longer because dreams, but some you get to fulfill. And thats what happened on Sunday.

I FUCKING WENT TO SILVERSTONE!

Silverstone, 2009 British Grand Prix, and to go there and watch the actual Formula 1, it was epic. Seriously, it was something I've always wanted to do, and to have the chance to do it was amazing. A great win from Sebastian Vettel, who pretty much lead the race from the first moment. But absolutely fucking amazing day (as you can tell I've run out of adjectives already). The day was just plain astonishing, fascinating, incredible, stunning, surprising, unbelievable, wonderful - you get the point. And it didn't rain. Miracle.
And talking about sport, going to Wimbledon next week. I think the last time I went was nearly 6 years ago. Wow, a long time.

• And because it has to be said,

R.I.P Michael Jackson

with as much crazy stuff there was in his world, I can't believe he was only 50 years old. A true legend of the century.

• Also, a sort of part-time hiatus. I've been around the Internet, done some downloading, but I'm probably the worst friend ever as I haven't checked my f-list in over 4 days. I'll be working on [info]dbsk_library under I can get it up-to-date.

W Korea July 2008 Wei Tang (because she looks gorgeous here)

• I spent the entire weekend at home. Literally. I didn't step out the house for one moment.
I can't even remember the last time I did that.

• I had two papers to catch up on (and still 1/3 left) and just decided to chill, watching some TV. A little French Open here, a little Turkish Grand Prix there, and some random bits of the Apprentice.
I haven't actually sat down on a Sunday afternoon to appreciate a Grand Prix race, ever. I'm always just checking out highlights or just reading the winners. Watching a race was strange, coz since I got my license, like, four months ago, I haven't sat behind the wheel once.

• Because I decided to do some sharing/CD-Ripping for [info]clear_sounds I was trekking through my albums, AND OMFG! HOW MUCH MONEY HAVE I THROWN AWAY?!?! The last, four years I've just been buying, and buying and buying albums, and looking now I realise how much stuff I have, and stuff I don't even listen to -- alot of the stuff I buy is a spur-of-the-moment thing. And those three-trillon editions of each album are really starting to irritate me. Especially when I look at DBSK's O.Jung.Ban.Hub - all four version sitting on my self. Egh.
My postman hates me for making him carry so much.

• And because I was stuck at home I did some scanning/re-scanning. Someone asked me for Dong Bang Shin Ki in S Magazine August coz the link expired, I tried finding the scans I had before but can't, so I rescanned that in for you. Ten sets of scans, click on links to see them. Seriously, I have nothing better to do with a weekend in. galleries. )

... pictures have killed my HD

• Today was sooo boring. I was waiting for the post, and he FINALLY came at 2pm. I spent four houes downloading catch-up and renaming and sorting out my picture folders. 4 damn hours. I cleaned out duplicates, lower quality, and some really random pictures and ended up saving 9.2GB of space. LOL, I thought I did great, and then checked the size of picture file again -- it's STILL at 29.3GB. I did though shrink my DBSK folder from 18GB down to 4.4GB, something to be proud of. I pretty much got rid of everything apart from scans +++ 29.3GB, 105513 Files, 1586 Folders )

• I think I've finally realised why I'm not a BoA fan. I mean I love the girl, love her music, love her hardwork, but I don't follow her or the fandom. It's her performances, they just don't do something for me. She has great vocals, and when I'm watching a performance of hers I will always want to finish it til the end so I can see the dance routine -- but it doesn't have that quality to it, making me re-watching them again.

• I think it's also the same sort of thing with alot of the new girlbands last few years, Wonder Girls, Baby VOX ReV, SNSD and KARA -- I just don't find their performances interesting and full of energy -- more of their concentration seems to be focused on trying to act cute/innocent and batting the eyelashes. Thus the reason I think I fell in love with After School - they have this stage presence which I just love, and even when I didn't like DIVA too much at the beginning I felt compelled to watch them perform. It's soemthing 2NE1 have as well. I don't like them too as a band yet - apart from the fact Park Bom FINALLY got to debut - but their debut stage on Inkigayo has to be one of the best. Ever. From singing to dancing, to energy, to hype. Perfect. And I don't even like the song much.

• .. and I've finally gotten into 2AM. "This Song" didn't work for me, but I saw a performance a few weeks back of "Confession of a Friend" -- and OMFG! they sound even better live than in the studio. Seriously. It's so hard to find "good" ballad singers nowadays. They're certainly someone I'm looking out for now.

... January Jones May 2009 for MAXIM UK and Harper's Bazaar UK

• I love this woman sooo much. For whoever hasn't watched "Mad Men", go do it NOW. She's a fan-fucking-tastic actress, and being beautiful is really just a bonus. I love how the covers complement each other, one from sexy and one from fashion. Bigger thumbnails under the cut if you wanted +++ )

• I have this crazy obsession with collecting high quality magazine cover scans. I have over 2600 of them and still counting ♥ I feel like doing a picspam of them. Wow, I'm bored. I feel down the stairs this morning and my ass is still hurting so I can't go out.

... weird houses and what not

I went to the book store with my auntie this morning coz she's decorating the new house and was looking for ideas. Who knew there were so many interior design books around? I got a headache and decided the Internet would be easier [it's the 21st century!! Google!] I came across a few interesting things. I thought I'd mention thhis is a totally useless post. I don't even know what to tag it. +++ )

But while I'm at it might as well do a little pimping, a comm for Asian soundtracks from dramas, anime, games, cf's etc [info]drammaticaa [info]drammaticaa [info]drammaticaa. Speaking of anime, what good out there right NOW. As in the spring season. Apart from FMA2 and Eden of the East.

... even I say my iTunes playlist is rather odd

• Listening to the same music over and over again is making me depressed. I really need some new music. Alot of my indie pop/rock stuff feels old now, and well, I JUST NEED SOMETHING NEW. NEW AND REFRESHING. I got my Seira Kagami CD today so was listening to that -- I will recommend to to J-pop fans, sort of pop/electro/anime stuff - she did the ending theme for CHAOS;HEAD. Can't wait for Bonnie Pink's new album. And I still haven't gotten around to Younha's yet (is it good?) +++ )

• And suprisingly, I FUCKING ♥ After School. Ga Hee is so damn pretty, and I don't know another person who can look so different with their hair up or down. The dances, performances and outfits are sexy and the songs are pretty catchy (just please get rid of the "Ladies Sound..." intro next time). They aren't great live, but compared to Wonder Girls, they're miles ahead. They might be slightly (term used lightly) older than the other "new generation" girlbands but they THE ONE for me. Of course, my love for CSJH and BEG comes first (they need to release new).

#209 [info]picspammy Challenge #09, Scenes and Sequences : Twilight
A third picspam in three days. So this what not what I had in mind when thinking of something to picspam, but with really great screencaps from HoTN, I thought might as well make good use of them. Then I realised the coloring for this film is a real bitch and took alot more time that I expected and nearly gave up (as you can tell near the end) - I hope the final result isn't too bright for anyone. The film didn't rock my boat. Personal opinion, but sadly, true. The DVD did a little better with the deleted scenes. However there were a few moments which made up for the lack of Edward/Bella chemistry. Namely, anything with Charlie or Carlisle in it.

those few scenes I did enjoy )

#209 [info]picspammy Challenge #09, Scenes and Sequences : Roswell, The Michael/Maria Scenes
My ultimate OTP, so I thought I'd center this picspam challenge around them. Roswell was a show focused around the idea that the Roswell (alien) crash in 1947 was real, and there were actual alien/human hybirds on it who are now in high school. There are loads of Michael/Maria scenes I love, but these are the ones off the top of my memory - but I'm sure I'm missing big.

#208 [info]picspammy Challenge #09, Scenes and Sequences : The Fall of Anne Boleyn
Because this is the first thing I thought of when I saw [info]picspammy's monthly challenge. It's a huge shame that Natalie Dormer has now left the show, as her portrayal of Anne Boleyn has to be my favourite to date. The reason I left out the dialogue/quotes is that besides the fact that I was too lazy, I also feel these scenes don't need the words to be understood. The last two episodes were just heartbreaking, and every time she - or anyone, really - cried, I bawled like a baby. And still do. I still haven't brought myself to start watching the new season of the Tudors but at least they've decided on changing the actress for Jane Seymour -- she was so plain and boring in comparison to Natalie Dormer I found it hard to understand the King's fascination in her, unlike the way I felt when Anne stole the show from her sister and Queen Catherine. Spoiler alert for the final two episodes of The Tudors, Season 2.

I FINALLY got around to doing this. A month late, but at least this time it's from the beginning of the year. Think about the year that has passed. All the memories, the entries and posts that made the year special. Think about all your past layouts, default icons, mood themes. How about all those conversations you had via comments, or the huge post in ONTD that you spent all night commenting on. The 2008 Scrapbook Post is a way to help you remember all of that, in a single post (idea from [info]2009_scrapbook)

... it's been a while since I was actually excited in seeing a book on my doorstep

Actually, no thats not true. I was jumping up and down when Patricia Brigg's Bone Crossed arrived in his shiny blue hardback cover.

But I actually REALLY like this cover, it looks better when you have it front of you. The Mortal Instruments have the most beautiful hardback covers, it's the only reason I collected them. The UK edition paperbacks are rather freaky (in my opinion anyway). But I DON'T like the Stephanie Meyer quote stuck right in the middle of it. Argh. I get the trilogy will appeal to Twilight fans (I actually prefer Cassandra Clare's trilogy) but really, no need to stick right THERE, smack in the middle.
